CRAFTSMANSHIP

The production of each frame can take anywhere from 10 to 18 weeks, reflecting the time, care, and precision dedicated to every stage of the process.

Material selection lies at the core of Solart’s philosophy: only the finest Italian acetates are chosen to guarantee exceptional quality, durability, and long-lasting performance.

The process begins with a sheet of cellulose acetate a natural material derived mainly from cotton fibers and wood pulp. Through a specialized treatment, this raw substance is transformed into acetate, ready to be shaped into distinctive, high-quality frames

PREMIUM ACETATE

To begin the artisanal creation of each Solart frame, 90×60 cm sheets of cellulose acetate are carefully cut into smaller rectangular blocks. These are then shaped using a pantograph, which defines the contours of the frame front with precision.

Next, the temples are formed by cutting acetate rods with specialized molds and dies. A metal core is then inserted into each temple, ensuring strength, flexibility, and long-lasting durability

REFINEMENT PROCESS

Once the shaping phase is complete, the acetate fronts and temples undergo a tumbling process lasting between 48 and 76 hours.

Inside octagonal tumblers filled with small chips of beech and birch wood, the continuous movement gently abrades the surfaces, removing imperfections and gradually enhancing their smoothness

MANUAL POLISHING

Before each frame is polished by hand, expert craftsmen carefully inspect the acetate after the tumbling stage, ensuring that even the smallest imperfections are identified and corrected. Each temple is then meticulously assembled and attached to the front using precision hinges.

PRECISION STAMPING

Today, many brands rely on laser technology to mark their eyewear. Solart, however, ensures that its artisanal heritage is preserved throughout every stage of production.

To imprint the Solart logo and frame details inside the temples, a traditional fire-stamping technique is used. Heated brass characters are pressed through a golden foil, creating a refined signature that remains luminous and enduring over time
